To further elevate the university’s cooperation capacity with higher education institutions in German-speaking regions and build momentum for the university’s development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Vice President Zhu Weihong recently headed a delegation to visit Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria. In in-person, in-depth discussions, the two universities reached a number of agreements. This marks the full launch of Phase II construction for the undergraduate program in Polymer Materials and Engineering, the joint education initiative between our college and Montanuniversität Leoben, entering a brand-new stage of high-quality development! During the visit, the delegation was warmly received by Professor Thomas Prohaska, Vice Rector of Montanuniversität Leoben, and other representatives.
In the meeting, Vice President Zhu Weihong noted that since its approval in 2017, the joint education program for Polymer Materials and Engineering has fully integrated the advanced concepts of Europe’s Industry 4.0 and China’s Emerging Engineering Education. Boasting distinctive educational features and fruitful talent cultivation outcomes, the program has become a model of Sino-Austrian higher education cooperation and greatly boosted the College of Materials Science and Engineering’s confidence in global talent training. At this critical juncture to gather strength for the 15th Five-Year Plan, both sides agreed at the meeting to fully advance Phase II development of the program, injecting strong strategic impetus into quality improvement and efficiency gains of the Sino-Austrian joint project.
With the strong support and guidance of the university, the College of Materials Science and Engineering will take the Phase II construction of the Sino-Austrian joint program as an opportunity to continuously build a new hub for high-level international talent training. With dedicated joint efforts from both universities, the Sino-Austrian program will nurture more top-tier materials talents with global vision, familiarity with international rules and outstanding engineering practical capabilities!
