The Polymer Processing Research Laboratory is mainly engaged in the research of reactive extrusion of polymers, functional materials such as silicone, antibacterial and marine antifouling materials, bio-based materials such as nylon 56, high-structure and multifunctional fluorosilicone rubber and nitrile rubber materials, as well as polytetrafluoroethylene series microporous membranes, explosion-proof membranes and copper-clad laminate substrate materials.

The laboratory has undertaken a number of scientific research projects, including key projects, general projects and youth projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National 863 Project, the National Key Research and Development Program, the 12th Five-Year and 11th Five-Year National Science and Technology Support Programs, and provincial and ministerial projects of Jiangsu and Shanghai. It has carried out cooperative research projects with many well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, such as Baling Petrochemical, Sinopec Northwest Oilfield, SAIC and Shanghai Institute of Satellite Engineering, Rongsheng Petrochemical, Hengtong Group, Tongguang Group, Baosteel Group, Konica Minolta, Saint-Gobain, etc.

- 2018: Second Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of China Light Industry Federation. Key Technologies for High-quality Recycling of Waste Polystyrene Foam.

- 2014: Third Prize of Shanghai Technological Progress. Key Technologies and Application of Polystyrene Foam Resource Utilization.

- 2013: Third Prize of Shanghai Technological Invention.  Reactive Extrusion Preparation of High-performance Block Fluoro-silicone Rubber with Designable Molecular Structure.

- 2012: Shanghai Outstanding Technical Leader.

- 2011: Second Prize of Shanghai Technological Invention, Preparation Method of a Multifunctional Network Toughened Polymer Alloy Plastic.

- 2010: Second Prize of Shanghai Technological Invention, Reactive Extrusion Preparation of High-performance Biomass-filled Recycled Polymer-based Wood-plastic Composites.

- 2007: First prize of Shanghai Technological Invention. Creation and Application of Molecular Assembly Antimicrobial Technology.

The laboratory has published more than 400 SCI papers in journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal, Carbon and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, authorized more than 40 invention patents (including 1 US patent), and published 3 monographs and translated works.
