Professor Keith McLean from CSIRO, Australia visits ECUST

Professor Keith McLean, the theme leader of biomedical materials and devices, CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia), was invited to visit us on September 17th -18th, 2014. He delivered an academic speech entitled “Biomedical Materials and Devices Theme”. The lecture was hosted by Professor Changsheng Liu, the dean of school of materials science and engineering, ECUST.

During the lecture, Prof. McLean introduced their recent work regarding biomedical materials and prototype devices for application in diagnosis, tissue repair, replacement and regeneration. At the end of presentation, Prof. McLean had a friendly discussion with the faculty and students of Materials Science and Engineering institute.

Prof. McLean is an internationally renowned expert in the field of biomedical materials and devices. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles, four book chapters and is an author of over 150 conference articles. He leads a multidisciplinary team of approximately 75 staff and students with expertise in materials, polymer, protein and surface science, cell and molecular biology, biocompatibility, physics, engineering and clinical medicine. Our School have years of cooperation experience with Keith McLean and CSIRO. Two students from Engineering Research Center of Biomedical Materials were sent to CSIRO for exchange learning in the past few years.
