The Top-Tier Innovative Talent Development Program adopts a 3+1+X training model, with specific arrangements as follows:

In the first three years, students complete all undergraduate courses except those related to the graduation requirements (e.g., graduation thesis/project).In the fourth year, students can advance to postgraduate-level courses and fulfill the undergraduate graduation requirements. Upon the completion of the four-year study and meeting the graduation criteria specified in the Top-Tier Innovative Talent Development Program, they will be awarded a bachelor’s degree.Starting from the fifth year, students will be officially registered as postgraduates. After being recommended for admission (without the national postgraduate entrance exam) and formally enrolled as postgraduates of our university, selected students must decide whether to pursue their studies through the direct PhD admission or master’s-to-PhD continuity pathway. After registering as postgraduates, all postgraduate-level courses completed during the undergraduate stage will be fully credited toward the postgraduate training program.

Full-Process Tutorial System

The Top-Tier Innovative Talent Development Program implements a full-process tutorial system, where tutors assume the following key responsibilities:

  1. Developing personalized training plans for students covering both undergraduate and postgraduate stages.

  2. Strengthening guidance for students to participate in extracurricular scientific research and innovation activities.

  3. The school selects doctoral supervisors with high ethical standards and profound academic attainments as tutors for the program.

  4. Each tutor can guide only one student in the same academic year.

Selection Process

The school establishes a selection and assessment expert group to conduct open recruitment for second-year undergraduate students within the university. The selection is based on two criteria:

  1. Academic performance in courses completed during the first year of undergraduate study (typically, students’ academic rankings should not be lower than the top 30% of their grade).

  2. Results of an interview assessment conducted by the expert group to evaluate students’ capabilities such as research aptitude.

A certain number of students are selected into the program through a process that adheres to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and merit-based admission.

Dynamic Management for Selected Students

Selected students are subject to dynamic management. Those who fall into any of the following categories will be automatically eliminated from the Top-Tier Innovative Talent Development Program and transferred to regular classes of their major to continue their studies:

  1. Students whose academic performance in the previous academic year falls below the top 50% of their major, or who fail any compulsory course in the first attempt.

  2. Students who cheat in exams or receive disciplinary penalties in accordance with the university’s rules and regulations.

  3. Students for whom the tutor, based on their specific performance (including academic grades, research capabilities, moral character, physical and mental health, etc.), proposes termination of participation, and such proposal is approved by the school’s Sub-Committee on Academic Degrees.

Additionally, if selected students do not choose to pursue further studies at our university in the first semester of their fourth year, they will be deemed to have voluntarily withdrawn from the Top-Tier Innovative Talent Development Program. Students who are eliminated or voluntarily withdraw will be transferred to regular classes of the corresponding major and must complete the courses and earn the credits required by the undergraduate training program for regular classes.

Specific details are subject to adjustment in accordance with the university’s requirements.
