Introduction

East-Asian Polymer Conference was first held in Shanghai, 1995 to provide a platform for the world-wide polymer community, espe-cially from East-Asia, to exchange and discuss new ideas and new fi-ndings in Polymer Science and Technology. Following the success of the four conferences, the 5th conference(EAPC-5) is going to be host-ed by East China University of Science and Technology and it will be held on June, 2008 in Shanghai, China. The scientific program of EAP-C-5 will cover current topics and recent progress in all areas of poly-mer science, including polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer materials and applications. The organizing committee extends it cor-dial invitation to you for participating in EAPC-5. We will make ever ef-forts to facilitate the interactions among the participants to facilita-te scientific exchange and to foster potential research collaborations.
Shanghai, situated on the banks of the Yangtze River Delta in East China, is the largest city in China, and one of the most rapidly develop-ing and dynamic city. Shanghai serves as China¡¯s leading center of commerce, finance, trade, transport, as well as science and technol-ogy. A large number of universities and research institutes are locat-ed in Shanghai.
East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), initially named East China Institute of Chemical Technology, was founded in 1952. It was the first single-subject chemical institute in China. With its subsequent development and construction, the University gradua-lly expands into a multi-disciplinary national key university including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, law, business, administ-ration and humanitiy.
