        Department of Inorganic Materials (DIM), which belongs to the School of Materials Science & Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), is consist of inorganic non-metallic materials, electronic information materials and new energy materials. The DIM is one of the earliest professional departments at ECUST and the first batch units of awarding Ph.D. and master's degrees of inorganic materials.
 
        The DIM has a strong-competitive academic team (21 teachers) with excellent research facilities and conditions, including 1 Yangtze Scholar (part-time), 4 PhD supervisors, 9 Professors and 8 Associated Professors. To improve the competitiveness of undergraduate, Department of Inorganic Materials, focusing on the quality of teaching, well-designs curriculum system for many years, develops and implements a plan for the 21st century education and training. In addition, the experimental teaching center of inorganic material is established, result in the great improvement for the professional competence and basic skills of students.
 
        Inorganic materials set up a wide range of various professional basic courses, main courses and elective courses, including several core curriculums such as Physical Chemistry of Inorganic Materials, Structure and Properties of Materials, Principles of Inorganic Materials Technology and Solid State Physics. The undergraduate teaching quality has a certain degree of visibility among the countrywide congener professionals.
 
        Based on the years of development, DIM has formed its own characteristics and research directions. Inorganic Non-metallic Materials Engineering is committed to training talents with moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic development, having solid basic theory, expertise and practical engineering capabilities to adapt the national needs and international talent market demand in the chemical and materials industry and its related areas economic development. After the national energy strategy adjustments, our school is one of the first universities approved by the Ministry of Education to establish the new energy materials direction. This profession is crossed by chemistry, physics, materials, electronics, machinery and other subjects, featured in design of energy conversion and storage materials and device, preparation of engineering technology. It trains complex talents who adapt to the needs of the country’s new energy strategy and master the basic theory in the field of new energy materials and device, with the capabilities of designing, manufacturing and applying about new energy materials and device, have innovative spirit, realistic style, team spirit and resilience.
