Laboratory for advanced resin matrix composites engages in the researches and development on advanced resins and their composites, concerning with the designs, syntheses, properties and applications of specialty resins, the manufacturing technology and performance of the resin composites, and the education of students majored in polymer matrix composites. The research and education team consists of Prof. Farong Huang, Prof. Qiaolong Yuan, Assoc. Prof. Shifeng Deng, Assoc. Prof. Liqiang Wan, Assoc, Prof. Yanhong Hu, Dr. Yan Zhou, Dr. Junkun Tang, Mr. Rong Wang and more than 20 postgraduate and graduate students. In addition, Prof. Lei Du takes part in the team as a distinguished professor.

Our team opens courses for undergraduate students including “Organic Chemistry”, “Material Preparation Engineering”, “Advanced Composites”, “Equipments for Processing of Composites”, “Applications and Development of  Adhesives” , etc. We take charge of the cultivation and training of students. More than 50 postgraduate and graduate students have graduated from our laboratory in recent five years.

We have undertaken more than 40 research projects such as the subprojects of the National Basic Research Program (973 Program), the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the key program of Science and Technology Fund of Ministry of Education of China, etc. Some research achievements in our laboratory have gained. Some of them have been transformed and found in practical applications. 2 national and 4 municipal/ministerial Science and Technology Awards have been awarded. We have applied for more than 40 national invention patents, in which 32 items have been authorized. There are four published books, e.g., “Recycling of Polymeric Materials”, “Unsaturated Polyesters”, “Phenolic Resins and Their Applications”, “Advanced Resin Matrix Composites”, “High Performance Polymers and Engineering Plastics”（Chapter 8）, “Handbook of Benzoxazine Resins”（Chapter 22）,etc. More than 300 scientific papers published in various academic journals and conference proceedings both at home and abroad.

The main research direction of our laboratory:
1.Design, synthesis, characterization and property of specialty resins.
2.Surface and interface of specialty resin matrix composites.
3.Processing or manufacturing technology for specialty resin composites.
4.Scale-up preparation and application of specialty resins and their composites.
